Winemaking Team
Innovation & Quality
Château de la Crée utilizes a collaborative approach to winemaking encompassing decades of experience lead by Domaine Serene Founders, Grace and Ken Evenstad.
Since 2017 our winemaker Pablo Bosch and our viticultural team, have worked closely with the Evenstads and the Domaine Serene team to implement techniques in the vineyard and the cellar to elevate wine quality.
The Château de la Crée winemaking team strives to continually combine innovative vinification techniques to accentuate the finest qualities of the legendary terroir found only in Burgundy.
While great wines begin with great vineyards, no detail is left unexplored throughout the winemaking process. There is no cutting corners in our quest to craft the highest quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the world.

Viticulture
Great Wines Start in the Vineyard
The Château de la Crée estate is made up of 25 acres of prime vineyard blocks of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay and Maranges. Nearly half of all plantings are designated as Premier-Cru Vineyard sites.
Biodynamic farming practices are employed in all our vineyards to drive optimal terroir expression, and ensure soil and plant health. Both Château de la Crée and Domaine Serene are uncompromising in their dedication to terroir transparency: in our vineyard work, our goal is first and foremost plant sustainability.
Our innovative approach is prevalent in our vineyard practices where we use the latest techniques to elevate our legendary vineyards to excellence.
The Winery and Historic Cellar
Where Heritage Meets Innovation
Following comprehensive upgrades completed in 2011, our state-of-the-art, gravity-flow winery is fully equipped to support a meticulous yet low-intervention approach to crafting elite Pinot Noir and Chardonnay - all sourced from our vineyard estates located throughout the Côte-d'Or - some of the world’s most exquisite terroirs.
We age our wines in our historic 16th century cellar located in Santenay for the subsequent 14-18 months in barrel. Our team draws on decades of experience, and carefully pairs certain cooperages and oak types with specific vineyard blocks to accentuate and frame each wine before bottling.
After bottling, we patiently wait for our wines to continue to integrate for the next year before release.
DSGC Cork Program
Domaine Serene Guaranteed Cork
Most industry experts agree that about five per cent of all wines sealed with natural cork closures display a musty taint. These wines are typically characterized as “corked.”
Domaine Serene & Château de la Crée have developed a zero-tolerance policy against TCA and other forms of cork taint, beginning with the 2014 vintage. Our DSGC assurance guarantees taint-free natural cork closures to our customers, regardless of where or when the wine is consumed.
DSGC is another example of unwavering quality commitment by winery founders Grace and Ken Evenstad, who envision the program as an outright refusal to tolerate corked wine under their Domaine Serene and Château de la Crée labels going forward.
All wines feature the DSGC cork - giving you peace of mind when securing our wines that they will be free from TCA.
